Hey guys, some of you may have noticed my car failed MOT, and I don't have the time nor money to fix it, so I've been looking for another car.
My main options are: cheap runaround (<£400), i.e. some crappy fiesta, or buy another mini (<£1000).
However, what I really want is a late mini, either a cooper or another variant, ideally 1996 onwards.
Basically I just want to know how much I'm looking at for a decent, rust free example, or a guide price for the cheaper end of the spectrum.
Hell, any information at all would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks
Mark

Usually late coopers are the best part of £5K!
But your probably in look with the economy at the moment - I guess you could get one for about £2-3k if your lucky

Interesting, thanks for the quick response.
What about any other mpi that isn't a cooper?

Also, when you put the reg of a sportspack into say confused.com, does it give you a quote for the sportspack (does it recognize it) or is it a quote for a standard rover cooper?

I bought my 93 cooper spi about 4 months ago, probably paid a little too much but I was desperate to find a rust free example. I paid £2900, but I did a lot of research and I'm still looking today. i reckon you'll have to pay well over £3000 for a late Cooper without rust even in today's market.

confused.com recognises rover cooper, cooper sport, cooper sport 500, rover mini knightsbridge & rover mini seven.
EDIT: To give you an idea of price, I bought Matilda as a rust-free non-sportspack cooper with 20,000 miles on the clock in 2006 for £4995. I don't think her price would have changed that much in the past 2 years. I've only been driving for those two years (still on probation 'til December), and as a new-driving woman in her thirties, my insurance is £450 fully comp from Diamond.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I've been driving over 2 years now and my insurance on my 30 has gone down £300 since last year to £650, and I got quotes for late coopers and most were around the £800 mark, but a quote for a sportspack was the same price as a normal cooper, thats what makes me worry. If I got a sportspack and only got it insured as a normal cooper, would they not give me any money because of their error or something?! Tough one.
On another note, does anyone know of any minis that had central or remote locking as standard?
Oh, and the immobilisers in the late minis, what category are they?
Many thanks
Mark
