Hi just reading another tread about write off's ect,
after my crash my car will be wrote off, and i know that probably a or b if im right that these are the worse?
but because im still waiting for insurance compaines to sort out and ork out who was liable as i cannot remember what happend, but have gave a statement providing information on what i know happened and resons ect ect proving i wasnt at fault.

now becuase im third party, are they still able to take my car even if they dont pay out?
this really worries me as i dont want to just have my car taken and crushed. if i dont get paid out should i or can i just strip it to bare shell of all its worth?

sad times :)

any help/advise is very welcome

If they write it off aa a B or an A cat then you won't get it back. You should be able to find that out first and if this is the case, strip it. Thats what happened with mine.

If its a C, you can get it back.

If it is written off as a B or A they will take it off of you because it is 'unsauvagable' if I'm correct.

an insurance company will only write it off if they pay out on it, as you are only 3rd party your insurance won't be paying out and therefore CANNOT write it off and take it away from you.

however if you are claiming from someone else it gets more complicated if the other persons insurance deem it to be and "uneconomical repair" and as such would be written off.

if you have no-one to point the finger at im afraid your insurance won't pay you out a penny, but in the same breath they can't take your car either.

i get it a bit more now.
my dad did say that if they dont pay then its still yours and they cant take it away.
but with all this cat a, b, c ect i thought they could just take it no matter. if thats the case could it be put on the road again? although i ould never even think of it.

thanks
