Title self explanatory i guess. I wired in my Sony1giga panel head unit and it came on the display as "failure" which meant the speakers were wired round the wrong way. So I changed them about but now it reads the tracks ive downloaded onto it and then keeps cutting out?

Also when I switch offf the ignition it cancels all the memory evertime.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

top head unit i've got one of these.

i'd have a look at your + wiring also does it cut out when you turn it up? if so it'll be your batt isn't up to the job, they have a safety cut out.

can you take a pic of how you have wired it up?

I darent take a pic as its a bit messy but Ive used the plug and play socket adaptors .

As you said it cuts out when the volume and bass goes up so in what way do you mean the battery isnt up to the job?..What battery would you recommend i switch to run my head unit?

cheers

If the plug and play harness you used is the ones that's like the metro plugs then it might not have a permenant feed. Because it may be like my mini in that the original radio was a tape player with manual tune, so there was no need for a permenant for saving stations.

mine does exactly the same thing. when its been driven for a long time it gets more and more frequent until eventually it won't turn on at all. its an alpine head unit, forgotten the model no. when i rebuilt the engine we fitted a more powerful alternator and that has made no difference. about a week ago i bought a new battery and so far so good. i guess only time will tell. at first it was unbelievably annoying but in the end i gave up. nice to have the radio back though

Well fingers crossed im stripping the wiring out a completely re - doing it tomorrow.. i discovered the earth cable was broken yesterday so perhaps it'll sort the problem. Ive got a 50amp alternator so that should be pumping enough juice into the battery just depends if the battery is pumping it back out the other end i suppose?

ok..so now it doesnt cut out but now there's a buzz through the speakers for a very short while when i switch the ignition off and the head unit is also showing "failure" when i switch off which suggests the speakers arent wired in properly but they're done + to + etc so now im a bit confused?

very strange, mine never did any of that, it just wouldn't turn on. i dont know what to suggest to be honest, i tried evrything to figure out what was wrong with mine and still havent worked it out, it still hasn't played up since i changed the battery though.
