hello there today i was driving for the first time with the radio turn down lol ok first time i was actually paying attention to the car and i seem to have a really werid whistling noice coming from the car any ideas of what it could b my guess is that its the breather?

Would be helpful to know a bit more about this noise.

Are you sure it's definitely coming from the engine ? Is it constant ? Does it change depending on your speed or disappear if you put it into neutral/coasting or when dipping the clutch ?

Does it only happen when it's hot or cold or both. Is the coolant boiling in the expansion tank ? Mine used to make strange squeeking and bubbling noises until I changed the black cap for a new one (has a pressure relief valve inside)...?

Presumably you've checked silly things like the windows are closed properly (including rears), the door seals are fully seated and closed, the air vents aren't blocked, any add on accessories (roof rack) aren't causing turbulence/whistling, etc. etc..

What else can you tell us......??

its not constant but it near is as in when i cant hear it there will only be about a 2 second gap and it seems that gets louder as the revs go up but apart from that i have no idea, its not the air vents on windows ect iam going to take the breather off and see if the gasket is ok thats the only thing i can think that it is! also ive noticed recently ive got water in my foot well but only on the divers side iam gessing its coming from the window but i think this is quite a common problem for the mini so iam not to bothered ill just stick news paper down lol
