Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.

Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

I currently have 998 1990 mini city I am considering improving the power of the car and after much discussion have been told a 1300 gt engine with 70 bhp may be the most straight forward. and reliable. Just finished Italian job and found pwoer on auto strada slow and not responsive on twisty mountain roads do I keep my existing gearbox and what are the main points to watch out for and problems I may encounter.

Wicketts

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

Finding a 1300GT with that amount of power is not going to be easy, mainly because they are probably 40 years old now...

What you're probably going to find is a 1300GT engine which will need to be stripped, machined and rebuilt...

Now as you're probably going to have to do that, then there's more chance of you finding a straight 1275 A+ engine complete and start with that.. and then over time ( or from the go ) get that into some form of specification which will be near your desired results...

Just going thru an identical issue. I am building an A+ engine (bored out +.060) and intent to use my existing gearbox from the 998 A+. If yours is the original engine it should have a 3.1 ratio diff in the 'box which would work well on longer runs, I understand.

Keep an eye on the "For sale" section.....!!
