Hey all,

I bought the Non- genuine sportspack arches from minisport (which are made of some kind of rubber type material) gave them to the body shop where my mini is being repaired but the owner of the shop said they neet to be smoothened with some kind of paste and that those paste on them will crack if we fit and someone or something applies presure to them. Also he said that when left under direct sun light they can bend in the long run.

I was wondering if anyone else used them before and had any kind of problems ?

Also the wheels are 6x13 Ultralites can i use any other arch type that will look good and will close up the tyre?

Thx from now on . .

Have now fitted a genuine set having wasted hours, a load of cash and drilled pointless holes in my Mini.

Bought two non-genuine sets and both came from reputable makers. Both were turd. 1st set quality was poor, 2nd set looked good but fit was poor.

Genuine ones fit like a dream. Quality brilliant.

Genuine or dont bother!!

I bought the rubber type ones.

I drilled the car using the minispares templates - way out! So redrilled using the arch offered up to the body.

Rears have gone on ok but have ditched the fronts - looking for genuine for front now.

As regards painting - early days but I have given them 2 coats of plastic primer, one coat of normal primer and then top coats. No probs as yet but it is early doors.

Fibreglass arches can be picked up far cheaper than 200 quid. Keep looking.

Good luck.

I had a genuine set and they were an absolute awful fit. They required so so much work to get them to fit nicely.

I have the minisport ones, and they are less than perfect! If you use a good primer and plastisiser in the top coat and clearcoat, you can bend them around a fair amount without cracking the paint, I made up some wooden mounts to spray them on, but you need to be careful that they don’t bend in half putting them on the car!

Compared to some genuine arches I had some years ago, all the copy arches seem to be very flimsy, I would get fibreglass ones if I did it again.

How genuine are 'genuine' tho?

The ones I got were from Mini Sport and were wrapped in plastic with MG Rover stickers on (so would assume were ACTUALLY original). But dont some sellers make their own sportspack arches from the original molds?

Hence these could be inferior?

All I know is I have a set of Fiberglass sportspacks in my garage that I want to set fire to >_<

Unless anyone wants to buy em first LOL? They would be fine on a car with 13x6 wheels or smaller (Mine are 13x7)
