which would be the best engine to fit into a roundnose, realisticaly without lenghthening

take into consideration:

cost
size
power output
cc
subframe?

i seem to be under the impression that 1.6 engine seems the best on these fronts.

around 160bhp would be very tasty!

thank you in advance

well it comes down to whats available in your area..

australians mainly do Toyota Starlet GT (4-EFTE) Engine Conversions

and americans do Honda VTEC Installs (which are technically better IMHO as they produce more power from standard

and people from the UK do Honda and Vauxhal enging conversions..

the 1.3l 4EFTE engine can do upto200hp atw with the right mods.. but its a turbo engine so keep that in mind..
and some honda K serires can do upto 195hp N/A but are larger capacity..

From my experience thus far building a D15b / MiniTec based standard length roudnose and from what I've read of the experience of others; none of the various VTec models is significantly easier to fit, they are all a tight squeeze and require a lot of work even if you use a 3rd party subframe. All the other criteria you can judge relatively independently. Keep the actual power to weight ratio and the fact that this FWD in mind when deciding how much horsepower you "need" vs cost as the engine prices rise rapidly with horsepower.

i reckon the d series would be the easiest/cheapest choice if your wanting vtec they look pretty cool too and easy to turbocharge
ive chosen the jdm b18c6 98 spec to fit into a standard length none flip front roundnose which could even use 10 inch wheels
