She is ok, bit hurt but coping.
She was on a country bend, and she lost control, she really wasnt going fast because she is very wary. Shes done her pass plus and just wasnt prepared or experienced enough for the wet roads which we have down here in pembrokeshire.
However, shes fully comprehensive, but being 18 they never let her have an agreed value on the mini. However, on her papers shes insured it for £2000 which i thought was a fair reflection as we had her rebuilt from scratch, new panels, new everything, sub frame etc, new respray.
The local mini boys are really great with beck and they have looked at 'Elsie' for her. on first appearance she needs
1.new drivers wing
2.new drivers a panel
3.front panel
4. grille.
Rear subframe bent so new subframe and then the radius arm bracket in the back has gone.
No damage to the floor pans and the doors open and close fine.
Obviously going to need a respray too.
Poor beck, poor elsie. I shall post photos and let you know if the rebuild (again) is going to go ahead....
Its odd because once we sorted that becky was ok and is recovering, we have felt really sad for Elsie...
Minis are not just cars are they..... she is like part of our family!

They would write Elsie off wouldnt they....
Estimated repair I should imagine no more than £500?

sorry, the main object to my post was whether its worth contacting insurance. Becks excess is £300.

If she is a new driver it might be worth sorting it out without going through the insurance if you can afford it, as your premium will be increased drasctically!
I'm not sure exactly but if no-one else was involved i don't think you have to go through the insurance.
If you can, I'd say repair it without going through the insurance.

I thought that we would do that rather than go through insurance. No other cars involved .
Thanks for the advice. We had Elsie totally rebuilt from a rotting shell which wasnt running. I wished I had done a progress report on it and took photos at every stage. We didnt do it so , second time round we will !
Thanks for advice,
All the best.
I hope £500 is an over the top estimate.....times are hard !

think you will find that it will cost more than 500 for those panels and spraying.. we got a new front end and that was £1000 for parts labour and paint

fortunately I work in a garage and get all parts for trade price. Also, we know a very good welder, a member of the local pembrokeshire mini club and as for spraying, that will inevitably wait until the works done but same as, got paint for trade price and uncle does spraying ! yipee.
We had a spare bumper with the car, and beck had just bought a new grille so her old one can go back on.
I agree that it should cost more, but parts, costing 90 pound plus vat cost price...
