Hello all,

Having promised myself a mini since my mum sold her 850 when I was a kid, my girlfriend and I have just become the keepers of what I believe to be a 1970 Mk3 mini 1000 (although I stand to be corrected).

It isn't starting by the key so I've removed the steering column cover and was able to remove 2 small screws on the steering lock assembly, allowing me to slide the ignition switch out the back. The switch is totally melted so I need a new one but can't seem to find one anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Phil.

See if you can identify which one it is from here, they should also be able to supply

Is this it? If so it is usually supplied as a whole assembly. Quite exspensive though. Someone probably has an extra one you can buy. I know I do problem is I live in Denmark. You should probably try and find out why it is melted so you don't have to buy one more again.

Thanks guys, I've just checked with Somerford and although the switch is listed in their catalogue the part is no longer available. I'll check minispares now :D

Scotauto, that's the one, but I was hoping that as the switch is removable I'd be able to buy it separately. Not looking too hopeful!

I've just found this on minispares:
Clicky.

Although it's metal and my original is plastic it looks like a similar size and shape and has what looks like a hole for the securing screw in the top. Anyone know if this would work?

No that one is for the early minis and fits on the dashboard by the light switch, yours will look like the picture previously put up

that looks like the ignition barrel mounted on the switch panel so I don't think it will fit :D

Good thinking! I'll do that now. I've also just found the number of a local mini specialist so I'll try them too.

Thanks for the help.
