Hi
I have recently bought a 35th Anniversary edition Mini Cooper (Minty). He is a Japanese Import and is in mint condition.
I am looking to do a few modifications to him and I want to start with the exhaust.
I had a look under Minty on Sunday and between the cat and the first rear silencer there seems to be some sort of sensor. I believe this connects to the ECU (but not hundred percent sure)
I want to put a RC40 Millennium Stainless exhaust on him, but I am not to sure what to do about this sensor.
Can i just take it off or does it have to be there for Minty to run?
Hope someone can help me!

Cheers

Dave

a lot of jap imports skylines and such have a EGT sendor next to the cat, usally the wire is braided, also some eary cat cars had the lambda probe quite far down the exhaust.

Do you happen to have the red, round "EXH" warning in the lower right dash rail (usually next to the Rear Fog light switch) and/or the car make a "beep" sound for 1-2 seconds when you turn the ignition on? On Japanese cars there's a sensor to measure exhaust gasses from after the cat to a little box on the crossmember under the driver's seat to tell you when the exhaust gasses are waay above permitted limit.

When the ignition were turned on, the sensor perform a check-up, that's why the lights go on for a few seconds (1-3 sec) and a beep was heard. When it does this while you're driving, then your emissions are way out... I don't think they were connected to the ECU, though....

The link Is the exhaust I have fitted.

Pricey though about £170 .

This is it fitted to mine... >> Clickky <<

Sound great in a Loud deep rumbling way... does come with a reducer that makes it less noisy.
