Hi all,

Doing a nice little engine rebuild and was wondering what is the best coil and distributor out there to get optimum power, but more importantly reliability? I was going to use an Aldon coil and distributor, but didn't know if there was anything of the same spec but cheaper? Here is a quick spec of what my engine will be if it helps:

Engine

1. 998 engine
2. Pocketed
3. 1275 Performane head
4. HIF 38 Carb
5. Supercharger
6. Orange clutch set-up
7. Turbo oil pump
8. High capacity water pump
9. 1100 crank
10. 1100 + 40thou pistons
11. 1.5 roller tip rockers
12. 256 Cam
13. Oil cooler
14. Straight cut drops
15. Centre pick up

Cheers

How hard are they to install, and can't really find anywhere to get one, only seems to be america, and there are quite a few different types.

Another vote for MJ from me :) . You can get most of the kit from Trigger-wheels but its cheaper if you get the ford stuff from the local scrappy really. It will probably take a weekend to install fully.

Rather than me try to explain it rather badly :) Trigger wheels are Here (have a look at the EDIS-4 kit, as this is what you will need with the MJ unit)

Also it might be worth having a look at "Matt's Megajolt Guide" in FAQ. I also managed to get the latest version of MJ installed and running for under £150 :dontgetit: it should be fairly self-explanatory.

Ok, so I've had a quick look at the trigger-wheels website, and a quick scan on Matt's Megajolt guide, because its late and I know it wont go in, and guess what, its a blur, don't understand much at this stage, and for £300, is it worth it? Money is tight as it is, so don't want to buy things I don't need lol, but seems like a nice bit of kit, just need to get my head around it, find out and understance what bits I need, and find out what mods are going to be needed to be done. Then I'll see.

Nah you'll be able to get it all for alot less that £300, the only problem is the cam pulley as you have a superhcarger pulley, but if you get in contact with Gr4h4m he has sorted out a new 36-1 crank pulley add on with VR sensor bracket that will go on your chargerpulley.

For example iv got everything for the conversion for £100. And i have the 36-1 gear that i have to add to my pulley in that money...

The advantage is that as your fitting a supercharger you wont be able to buy any old disstributor off the shelf, your would have to have the curve modified to suite, and with megajolt this can be done easily on a laptop and can be addjusted easily to get perfect ignition timing.

Well worth the extra money especially as your going supercharger.

Just a couple more things before im off to bed - google megajolt ( i would link it but its late) and you will find a website called "autosport labs" or something, and have a read on there. I got my MJ installed for under £150 so it pays to shop around, and Trigger Wheels - i really cannot fault there service. Everything i neded to know was sourced via Matts guide and the autosport website - so its probably best just to keep reading it till you know what the benefits are etc.

Someone else may jump in and give a more useful reply than me anyways.

Here are some photos of a Trigger wheel that I am working on at the moment. These will be a simple bolt on kit and will come with the bracket for sensor.

These will be available for sale soon.

Thats exactly what iv done on mine, but iv just used the standard metal thats on the crank pulley on the engine side of the pulley like yours is and fitted a 36-1 wheel between the V and the metal and boleted it in place. With yours, you have to remove the metal that im talking about...

But it just gives alot more room for the supercharger pulley. Although i think ill be getting a completely different wheel made as im in the process of making myself a charger inlet, so the charger pulley on the crank wont be exactly the same place as the chargers on the market...

But yours looks like a very nice piece of kit, how much would you be after for something like that? looks very much the same as what gr4h4m has made, are you working together with him?

Ok, so I've read Matt's Megajolt Guide, and now I'm awake and alert, I understand it a bit better now, and its an excelent guide. So I think I have worked out what I need, correct me if I'm wrong:

1. Trigger Wheel
2. Mount kit and sensor
3. Megajolt kit
4. EDIS kit from a Ford
5. Dizzy blanking plug
6. Lumention Hotwires leads

Thats all I can understand from it all at the moment, correct me if I'm wrong.

Cheers
