I agree with Juju somewhat. It would be helpful if this topic could be a mature discussion on some of the points this Robson fellow has raised, rather than just a personal attack with playgound insults.

OK, i see where your coming from, but why all of a sudden does this guy feel the need to suggest that one of the most successful cars ever made was a design mistake ???

we all know that the mini has its faults, but a mistake ??? i think not.

Just read the latest Mini Mag, lots of glaring mistakes. "French made mini's", and an article with Auto to manual conversion in it, that the last picture and text states that the car is ready to go for a test drive, but things need checking and double checking. Fitting plugs and lead for that would have been good.....

Pillock sounds reasonable for someone who dares to defame our beloved Minis

We should declare a fatwa 'n go 'n leak oil on his driveway or summet!

(I read the pillock as only being related to some rather silly opinions expressed in his article, sounds like fair comment to me)

I sort of understand what you are saying but:

If you ever rally a mini on mud/loose surface you will know the rad does get caked in mud looses airflow and therfore heat rejection.

It rubber suspension is so good why do the tuning boys change to coilovers?

The childishness of grown men never ceases to amaze me.

Do you want me to forward him the link to this thread to give him some bandwidth to respond?

I think we're going to end up with the it's fine for the design brief and technology of it's time vs. it's rubbish by today's standards.

but to put the rad at the front would have changed the mini so much, that it would not be the mini that we all love.

and it was never designed to be a rally car

I think both of these points have been covered as electric Fans were not standard at the the time of design and as Juju pointed out he came from a rally background.
