Hi everyone.

First of all, whats it called when you make the wheels wider than the body? Is there a word for it or am I being stupid?

Like this http://www.miniworld..._large.jpg.html

Do you think its hard to do with a Mini Sprite? Do you think it will cost a lot?
Cheers
Ollie

Heres a picture of her
I think she looks quite skinny

its the same for whatever mini you have, doesnt matter if its a sprite or not, but i put wide wheels on my sprite, a lot of people have done it to there minis! choose the wheels. then find some arches to fit them, or vice versa, you got a fair few options on the size of wheels and style of wheels! and a fair few options on what style of arches! i put 7 x 13 superlite deep dish alloys on mine, and then fitted sportpack arches, anorak, i know you dont like them, but its my choice ;D, please dont have a go at me :P , oh, and my names Ollie too! >_<

EDIT: as for the cost, depends what you go for! my arches cost me £100, but i got fibreglass arches, and not the rubber ones, they were too much of a pig to fit, so i sent them back! dont know what my wheels cost, but i think the bloke who had the mini before me said it was about £400 with the tyres, guess thats pretty reasonable!

Someone said to me your have to put spacers on and a wider driveshaft. Sounded so bad to me and really put me off. If its just a matter of wider wheels and arces then it shoudnt be a problem.
Cheers for the help.

Don't forget you also need to alter the body as well, so that you have more clearance for your wider wheels.

yeah, thats all mine is! if you keep spinning the wheels youl probly snap the diff pin, and that means engine out! i know from experience, and i learnt from it! dont need spacers for some wheels, and do for others! but you do have to cut some of the body away, depending on what wheels you choose, the amount you need to cut away varies!

Cheers for this mate. What wheels do you have on yours. I've just checked mine and there 6.5 inches wide. Would like to get some wider.

the technical term is called "poke" where the wheels tyres stick out further than the body and arches. "poke" can be combined with "stretch" (strecthed tyres on rims) and a bit of "stick" (lowered) for the perfect stance.
