I wish they'd stop blaming the authorities too. Why have we got such a blame culture? The social workers didn't beat the poor little child did they? T'was the monsters who they call "parents", can't they just concentrate on punishing them with the harshest sentence they can possibly give?

Also, I wish they'd stop making this headline news every single day... That may seem harsh, but we all know the story by now, and as with the Maddy McCann case, the media are reporting every tiny little detail as headline news.

It's absolutely disgusting that we have people like this in society, they're one of the few types of criminal that I'd want the death penalty brought back for, and a painful, slow death at that

even if they have a playstation three and 50" telly in prison i expect the other inmates will make them wish they were dead.

I've heard inmates are rather harsh to people involved with crimes to do with children.

Bring back the death penalty for cases where there is cold hard evidence to say they did it (and intentionally did so)

What made my already choking heart choke more was the account of one of the children who lived with Baby P who said despite the injuries, he still managed to smile at the visitor.

Yes and one of the blokes living there couldn't read, but he knew how to beat a defenceless child.

Did social services visit your parents 60 times in 18 months when you were a baby though? You would have thought they may have realised there was a problem when they were visiting this particular collection of scutters almost once a week.

I think the issue is that such crimes will always occur from time to time regardless of what laws you put in place, we can however look at and improve the way the system responds. That will be easier without looking to apportion blame regardless. I'm puzzled by the difference in attitude shown towards the head of the Social Services compared to the Met Police's gaffer over the De Menezes shooting.

I also think anyone who commits such offences must by definition be mentally ill. Infanticide is not a solely human trait by any means and it can't have been the work of a rational mind.

Dont get me wrong, Im as disgusted and outraged as the rest of you. But some people just get a little too high on their soap boxes.

The reason the media are going after the authorities is because this isnt the first time these very same authorities have had an epic failure in the protection of children.
