Yes ive been at it again, after the sucsess of the How to: fit a ciggy socket to your mini (which can be found on www.minifinity.com in the interior and exterior styling section of teh forum if anyones interested) I have now done a guide to moving the fog light from the ugly bracket bellow the bumper to the reverse light.

http://www.minifinit...ewtopic&t=24026

I hope people are able to use this guide and it helps them.

Karl.

read the post, mini sprites has passed the mot for the last 2 years, its fine.

Mini trailers do a conversion kit for this but its £13!!! for a fancy wiring wiring loom and a chrome bulb that is pailer than a red one. anyhoo its all explained on the post, either in the main post or in the following replys. and as of tonight there will be a post showing how bright the fog light is at night compared to the brake lights.

Seems crazy when so many cars use the rear lights as their break lights (you know what i mean). That seems more dangerous than where the fog light is.

See the FAQ on fog light placement...

It is Illegal, and you could be facing points and a fine...

The proximity of fog light to brake light is to avoid confusion, and could land you in alsorts of trouble if at anytime you are re-ended by somebody... this will give insurance companes cause to invalidate your insurance, because you have a vehicle with known defective lighting...

This is how Minitrailers cover themselves...

Please check with your local road traffic laws for conformity

that is very perdantic to be honest, it passes MOTs so thats good enough for me, and when you look at the photo if you some how mistake the fog light for a brake light your a fool, and anyway if you did mistake it for a brake light surely you following me would then apply your brakes and not pile into the back of me.........

anyhoo this guide is optional, not compulary. if you do not want to carry out the conversion I am not forcing you. It is only there to help the people who would like to.

Many thanks

Karl.

If someone mistook a fog light for the brake light the problem woult not be them piling into you, it would be them putting the brakes on and having someone pile into them!

How about this then. Using the clear lens kit and coloured bulbs and a bit of rewiring swap the indicators from the top of the cluster to the middle, move the side/ brake lights to the top of the cluster and leave the fog/ reversing lights where they are. This way increasing distance between the RED lamps giving clear indications that they are not one in the same lamp as seperated by the indicator.

Not perfect in any way but much better. :smartass:

That would be cool and so different!

And with clear lenses people would only notice when ure using ure brakes, indicators or you have ure lights on.

Someone should do that :w00t:

The way round it I'm doing on petal, is taking the fog light from a Pug 206 and planting it into the boot lid below the number plate in the middle...
