Can anyone help, I have removed the heater from my mini and since refitting it now blows cold air even when the engine is fully warm.
I have checked the heater valve on the cylinder head and this is ok. Any suggestions please?

HEATER BLOWS COLD (please be as in depth as possible):

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

It's either blocked or you need to replace the thermostat.

Would it be a silly question to ask if you made sure the coolant system has been fully bled up?

Good point. So take your radiator cap off, make sure the heater tap is open and then start your engine. Let it idle until the coolant starts to bubble over and then replace the radiator cap.

This should hopefully clear any air-locks.

The problem I've got with Boo is that when you pull out the knob for heat, the whole line moves and not just the wire... just needs a little fettling.... might be worth checking that.

Taffy thanks , it seems as if the water is not been circulated even when hot. I think I will try removing the thermostat and see if that helps.

Oh the irony,

Does the engine appear to warm up in decent time? Could be the thermostat is stuck open. Plug a hosepipe on to one of the heater hoses with the other removed and flush it through.

Hi, yes the engine warms up, but there seems to be very little water reaching the heater/or the heater pipes. It worked fine before I removed it to flush it through .
As previous message I think a new thermostat could help and try to get rid of any air in system.
Thanks Geoff.

Yes the only times I've had heater problems in the Minis I've owned, both times it was due to a faulty/worn out thermostat.

Excuse the hijack but where is the heater tap? My heater doesn't blow hot at all anymore so I thought I'd give this a go.

The thing circled in red. When you pull the heater knob out it will pull the little lever on the valve and open it so that water can circulate the heater matrix.
