This should hopefully clear any air-locks.

Taffy thanks , it seems as if the water is not been circulated even when hot. I think I will try removing the thermostat and see if that helps.Good point. So take your radiator cap off, make sure the heater tap is open and then start your engine. Let it idle until the coolant starts to bubble over and then replace the radiator cap.
This should hopefully clear any air-locks.

Does the engine appear to warm up in decent time? Could be the thermostat is stuck open. Plug a hosepipe on to one of the heater hoses with the other removed and flush it through.

Hi, yes the engine warms up, but there seems to be very little water reaching the heater/or the heater pipes. It worked fine before I removed it to flush it through .Oh the irony,

As previous message I think a new thermostat could help and try to get rid of any air in system.
Thanks Geoff.

Excuse the hijack but where is the heater tap? My heater doesn't blow hot at all anymore so I thought I'd give this a go.

The thing circled in red. When you pull the heater knob out it will pull the little lever on the valve and open it so that water can circulate the heater matrix.
