Hi there,

I just wondered if someone could give me some advice please if poss...

My missus has a nice mini mayfair 'm' reg mark 6 I think in my garage rotting away... I really want to restore her back to health but as i'm totally clueless if anyone could give some pointers it'd be much appreciated. If pics are required for any answers please ask me and I'll post some up >_<

First off the bumpers need replacing. I've seen so many on various websites I dont know which ones would fit my car?! Some sites dont give pictures too which isnt too helpful. I looked around the bumpers on currently and it looks like they are bolted on at the top to some sort of frame. Do they all fit in the same way?
Heres one I found http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=38277

Next up I'd like to put a new radio aerial in as the other one has been snapped off  ive seen one on ebay item no. 360104513437 and on some other sites. Is there a 'how to' on here at all how to fit one? Do you need to access it from below or do they screw out?

Theres a fair bit of rust about but theres nothing I can do with that so i'll have to send it away to have that fixed..

Lastly, the drivers seat is stuck in position and so doesnt slide back and forth. Is it a hard job to take the seat out? I'm hoping doing this might show where the fault is so I can get it sorted as thats one of her pet hates with the car, and its in a real awkward position so I cant drive it!

Sorry for the number of questions and lack of knowledge, thats about it for now..

Any replies much appreciated!

Well Mini bumpers are Mini bumpers and they pretty much all fit the same. Obviously you don't want Mini Clubman bumpers (their rare and hard to come by anyway), but some recommend stainless steel bumpers, where as others prefer chrome, so it's all down to preference really.

You'll have to get the wheel off to gain access to the radio aerial and the one on e-Bay does look suitable I believe?

Does the passenger seat slide back and forth okay? Perhaps you're not lifting the rake adjustment lever enough? You can easily remove the seat by undoing the nuts and bolts that secure it to the brackets on the cross-member.

Hi

thanks for the reply. Thats a relief then about the bumpers I shall have another look later and get some on order. I see mini spares advertised at the bottom of each page, are they a good site to use?

Yeah the passenger side seat slides back and forth freely, the drivers side though is stuck. I gave the lever a nice hard pull but still nothing. Dont want to really rip at it incase I do more damage than good. Thanks for the info though I shall go undo those bolts see if I can spot anything.

I think I'll get that one off ebay and try my luck with it. I like the fact it says it locks in the down position when not in use, as there are so many mindless idiots about that snap them off just for the hell of it...

Yes Mini Spares are a very good company to deal with.

Hi There, As taffy has said mini bumpers are mini bumpers except clubman's which well you'll know when/if you see some! Mini spares are a pretty good company although I have had a lot of problems which their chrome products but I'm sure someone will be along to say that they have never had a problem. (at times i think they just don't like me :P)

The front seats are held in primarily by 2 nuts and bolt just in front of the seat, As for your aerial that looks like the same as I have but for the price of it it's worth a gamble!

I've just ordered a load of stuff from mini spares, I used the chat function talking to someone there and was very helpful so I opted to use them..

Next question! lol. As the car has been sat for so long unsurprisingly the battery is dead, I should of disconnected it oops! I've got my battery charger on it, and with the red and black leads connected and the ignition turned I'm getting around the 12v mark.

I've been trying to start her up but all I'm getting is clicking. I did a little search as read some topics on starter relays and motors... Forgive the stupid question, but where abouts in the engine bay are they?

Also, am I missing something in terms of the battery, ie will that method work or is the battery a gonna! With the charger disconnected it reads about 8v now so its charging, but if you turn ignition its still not enough to light the dash.

Going to try pushing it tomorrow see if that gets her going, weather permitting, just wondered if I could try something else first?

Many thanks again guys
