Well, after much bidding on ebay I have just bought myself a Clifford Concept 600 Cat 1 Thatcham approved alarm
Full spec see here
How hard is it to fit? My other half is going to do it, but with his track record of giving up when its too hard to do, is it likely I'm going to need a professional to fit, bearing in mind this alarm is the shizzle with everything and more!!
Lets see Mr TWOCer have a go now!!!

look on their website and they give a list of clifford approved fitters within your area.
you will also get the stamp with your guarentee.
I have a clifford on my bmw and have had no issues what so ever. But i'm safe in the knowledge that if a problem ever occurs all i have to do is take it back to somewhere clifford approved

Your gonna need a pro to fit that piece of kit, i've always had that alarm fitted to all my cars. If it's the alarm i'm thinking
of it comes with anti-hijacking and also fuel cut off and all the other bits and pieces. Get a professional to fit it, they'll fit it
in a day.

I fitted a basic Toad alarm to my Polo, and even though it was pretty basic (just a siren, central locking control, bonnet pin switch, ultrasonic sensors and an immobiliser), it still took the best part of a day, and to fit it properly I removed the whole dashboard and did quite a bit of work under the bonnet to ensure it fitted discreetly.
If its an all-singing all dancing alarm you will probably require the help of a professional, however you will probably find that about 2/3 of the functions of the alarm won't be applicable to the Mini anyway as it doesn't have half of the functions that a more modern car does.
Personally I would wait until you receive the unit, have a look at the loom and fitting instructions and establish what functionality you want and roughly where the wires are going to go. Once you've sussed that then you can decide if you want to fit it yourself or if you'd rather have a go yourself. Most of it is basic wiring, soldering, heatshrink etc, its just a case of working out where to fit the siren and the control box and the (usual) mass of wiring.
Hope that helps a bit!
