My mini 1000cc motor keeps overheating , I have checked a heap from the thermostat (replaced because had none) to the timing and cant seem to find the problem.

The car seems to behave until I accelerate then the tempreture seems to climb. If I decompress down a hill the car cools fine . but once I accelerate again the tempreture climbs.

They say The normal running tempreture is 90 degrees Celsius , my motor runs up At 105 degrees Celcius.(Timing on 4 degrees)
With The timing up to 8 Degrees the car heats to 114 degrees celsius

I have just sent the motor in for the head gasket to be replaced, and have had the radiator recored with 3 Core heavy duty. Which I am hoping will solve the problem.

What else could cause the problem?
Please any help would be perfect.
thank you

To weak a mixture can cause them to run hotter..

Have you got an auxilary fan fitted, I noticed you are in South Africa, perhaps a bit of extra cooling wouldn't go amiss

Thanks for the reply ,

I have tested the mixture and all seems to be fine ,
I tested on the carb itself ( single Carb)

That was the first thing i also thought.

When you say extra cooling you mean anti freeze or Extra oil cooler or something ?
Thank you for the reply once again

No I mean an extra fan, you can fit an electric fan to the radiator for extra cooling, as well as the fanbelt driven fan.

Yea I whipped the old Radiator out before I sent it in for the head gasket ,
and I checked all the pipes and replaced the Thermostat

the old radiator had some rust buildup and was a bit damaged , It was a 2 Core .
Could that have been the cause ?

Is the car back from having the headgasket replaced yet? You may have cleared the problem up with the new rad and headgasket. - Retime your engine static to 8 degrees advance at 900rpm. Too retarded ignition will also cause overheating

Thats perfect , I get the car back tomorrow.
I didnt know the Iggnition can cause overheating .

I get the timing redone to 8 degrees, it was originally at 4 degrees.

thank you, I dont know what to do if that doesnt work.
