hi all

i have a 1984 mini mayfair 998cc and i have been looking about upgrading my brakes (as i have drums all round), im thinking about getting a servo and hubs and calipers 91-92 cooper to convert mine to front disks.
i was wondering first, am i able to do this and would the servo fit with my existing pedal box??

if anyone could help i would be very thankful

Jay

If your getting the servo from that year of car, lift the pedals with the rods and bracketry too, going to make your life a whole lot easier.

Converting to discs is not a problem - just take overything off the donor including hoses (they're longer than yours - but would reccomend replacement anyway) the servo will present issues as you'll have to carry over the pedal box from the donor - its a little fiddly but not too complex - one small issue that may have escaped consideration though you'll have to go from 10" to 12" wheels to fit discs unless you fancy investing in some S discs or fiesta hybrids.......

yea i have already got 13" wheels anyway.

would i need to get the servo, is it necessary or could i do without it and still convert to disks?

You can convert to discs without the servo, all 84-89 Mini's had this setup. As mentioned on here before, Servo's do not improve the brakes, they make it easier to get the most out of your brakes

if you go the servo route get the vacuum pipe, not sure but may need inlet manifold, you will need the front hubs also.
