hi

i found some infomation on the mirage manifold t2 turbo conversion
and am looking to put it on my mini. just wondering if any one had
done it to a 998cc mini before, if so, was it fairly straight forward
or any problems, and also how much it cost all in all.

cheers
Jay

compression ratio will need lowered for starters if you want o run a little boost unless its a a seires they have 8.5:1 ratio in standard form get some good boost going through that

so are you saying if its an A series engine i dont need to lower the compression ratio.
(sorry if im being thick im very tired!!)
yea i believe i have an A series engine. its a 1983 mayfair

i found this list from turbominis.com
1x Manifold kit, including down pipe
1x Turbo of the T2 variety
1x Inlet manifold (can be of the MG Metro style)
1x Actuator
1x Oil Feed
1x Turbo Manifold Gasket
At least 2x 5/16th K-Nuts
4 Large washers with a 5/16? hole
5x mate K-Nuts
2x 14mm Banjos
2x Banjo Bolts to fit thread of water cooling points on turbo
1 length of 13mm steal pipe
2 lengths of heater water pipe hose
Length of vacuum pipe (4mm)
An adjustable top engine steady, or modify your own
1x 2? Exhaust clamp (preferably a 1 bolt fixing)
13mm 90 Pipe capable of withstanding oil
2x Stainless hose clips to fit 13mm pipe

is this a whole list or is there more to buy?

thanks again

yeah there's still all the other bits involved in a turbo conversion, fuel pumps etc.

plus with a mirage setup you have to make your own oil drain up, make an actuator bracket, make a bracket that holds the downpipe off the pot joint, cut the wastegate tab on the turbo and reweld it other side.

in a 83 i would have thought it wouldve been a+ engine, on either engine if you could find a 12g295 head would be best option believe they have got slightly opened out ports and bigger valve then a 83 998
depends on boost and intercooler size to c/r

If it's the original engine as fitted from the factory, it will be the later A+ type engine.

hi turbo phil, apparently your the guy to talk to!

im interested in doing this conversion could you recomend any other parts to replace
like pistons crank ect, because i dont want to do this and have my engine blow up or
something!

also do you have a rough price guide to go on and where you would source the parts?

cheers mate
