My box is screwed again, so I got fed up. Just rang my insurance company and for an extra £118 I can have a 1275 not a 998. Do I? or dont I? :erm:

I take it you're on discs? with good suspension and good structure to the body?

If yes then go for it! But you may need a different exhaust manifold for a 1275, and I'd recommend getting a HIF44 carb if you can, rather than using the HS4/HIF38 as fitted to the 998's.

If you can find a good late A+ Metro as a donor then it will come with a 1275, HIF44, electronic ignition, and are usually in good nick, particularly the 5 door ones.

But the short answer is yes!! Providing your brakes are up to it.

Not so sure about that. I have a 1275 with RC40 + LCB, Minispares inlet, HIF44 and K&N, with a ported head. Yeah, it's nippy.. but not exactly fast.

What the hell is a super sticky yok?

Do it big difference. And then if you do want to tune you'll be able to get a shed load more power out of it.

I can now go up hills.

The shell has new sills and is strong enough, and it has discs at the front. I already have a super-stripped out car that kept up with a Golf the other day on a dying engine. So a 1275 would be giving me about 160bhp/tonne :w00t:
I have an LCB and minisport alloy inlet manifold that'll fit anything.

Yeah, the car has nowt in it. At all. I reckon sub 500, but have no evidence to back this up. Only the HUGE pile of stuff that I took out. That and the way it shifted with a motor putting out no more than 35bhp!
Having a goodn plug now, because its for sale.

A standard mini is roughly 645kg, you may of taken lots out but I can't believe you took out stuff weighing more than an engine!

Ok, here's a list of stuff I took out;
Back seats
Passenger seat
Cast iron manifold (replaced with LCB and alloy inlet)
Heater box, motor, element, pipes and about a litre of coolant that was in it
Dash rails, top and bottom
Steel front end (it is a grp flipfront)
All interior trim like steering column cowl, trim from companion boxes, roof lining, trim from near rear window,
All sound proofing from both sides of the bulkhead
Sound proofing tar from the floor

Theres more stuff than I have mentioned here, but I cant remember everything!
I will do this to another car when I can have more than 1 car at a time. It made it so much fun to drive, it didnt roll at all and accelerated so well!
