How can I do it? I have copy all the program folder files onto an external hardisc and copied them over to the new laptop. What now? I can't seem to find a start or run file... Can anyone help?
Thanks from a computer idio

Basically you can't, without the setup CDs.

Personally I'd download Open Office (google) and use that instead. All the functionality of Office, none of the cost and hassle.

did you move the exe. files across?

not sure if it'll work anyway, as you've just brought one copy, and not a license agreement with microsoft. (i'm guessing here, but usually if its been brought from the usual places it'll only be a single user license)

you have to buy a seperate package for each unit. (legally)

to make sure you have all the files make sure you select show all hidden files, then you know you have them all...

you should be able to copy the contents of the disk into a folder on your comp, if you then copy those files onto your external hdd and run the setup exe it will work.

I got the impression from the bit where he said "I've copied the contents of the Program Files folder" that he doesn't have the setup files.

As Jammy said, it's not going to work how you're expecting it to.

You need a setup disk and then you need to copy the contents of the setup disk to a flash drive to install to your computer without the CD drive. The contents of your Program Files>Microsoft Office directory doesn't substitute for an installation cd.

Download Open Office as suggested :P.

Only if the external hard drive is connected to the laptop you want to run Office on. When you run the setup program it installs files and registry keys to the drive of the computer, without this stuff Office won't load.
