re fitting a new water pump

hi ive just removed a cracked water pump
and am about to fit a new one
is there anything tricky of things i should watch out for whilst doing this

not really, just make sure the surfaces are clear so that the gasket has a good seal!

another thing to insure is that the clips for the bypass hose are secure after you have fitted the water pump and before refitting the radiator..

And make sure the bypass hose is THERE before you bolt it on :fear:
May as well replace it while you are there, there are about a quid and some motor factors stock them.

try to use heater pipe rather than the pants convuluted type bypass hose. Heater pipe is much more durable. Minispares also do a Kevlar bypass hose, I fitted one to a performance 998 a while ago, there's been no problems yet.

Depending on how old and how well put together your engine is, you may find some dowels lining the waterpump up. If you do then swap them into the new pump body, if not then just take more care to align it to the gasket.

yes, as mini84 says use a section of strong heater pipe instead of those stoopid consetina(?) type hoses for the bypass.
