Not sure if I'm just being paranoid here after all the problems with my MPi but I bought a couple of TP Sensors off eBay (cheap at £12.50 each) advertised as Mini MPi with Pt No. SLD100080 which is correct.

However, the numbers stamped on the steel specification plate are different?

Old one removed from car - MHB101340 - W43 - T006 (SLD100080 not stamped anywhere on unit)
New ones bought from eBay - MHB102121 - X38 - T005 (Both have same no. so obviously not serial no., maybe batch no.?)

Both look identical in every respect.

It' fitted okay and seems to work okay after about 5 miles or so running the car (did have high idle revs of 1250 but now okay).

You could put your multimeter to resistance and measure the minimum and maximum resistance of the new TPS and compare it to the old one. if they match then I would say that its fine. The ecu monitors the change in the readings to do its fueling stuff.

I would also like to know the same thing about a Map sensor I purchased, different numbers but identical in appearance and says rover on it.

I was under the impression that the tag was a build number for the manifold

The TPS should be generic, it does exactly the same thing on any car.

I am using one of these TPS on the 16v engine on the BMW ITBs, its a pretty standard TPS unit
