Basically can I paint my project mini in red oxide and leave it/store it outside under a tarpaulin without it turning to a pile of rust again? O_O

As I’m well behind were I had hoped to be with the project and am no were near ready for final painting, and I had hoped on swapping the minis round so I could tidy up (full re-spray, engine work, interior etc) the 25 up ready for the start of next year, but can’t as I’ve still got the project taking up the garage. O_O

It shouldn’t be left outside for more than a month, as It will be going straight back in once the 25 is redone, but would just mean I wouldn’t have to rush all the prep, filling and sanding just to get some colour/paint onto it.

i know most primers are porous and let water through but i'm not sure about red oxide primer O_O

i know we use it at work to coat steel beams before they are installed

No no no no no no, dont do it.

That stuff reacts with everything and makes life very hard when you come to prep and paint it.

All primers are porous... anything other than a topcoat will need to be stripped off before prep as you wont know if damp will have worked its way under.
