I am rebuilding my 1275 a series into a 1380 i figured might be a ood time to upgrade the final drive im mguessing it is a 3.44. Is there a way to make sure with the gearbox out of the car what final drive I have.. Also what im looking for is better cruising speeds on the frreway at 75mph i have 10inch tires. I am not very familiar with how whjat a good rpm is for a mini but i dont want to over rev it while driving to golf every week on the freeway at 75mph what is a good rpm that is safe to drvie long distances in a mini. Im used to chevrolet engines wich do bet from 2500 to 3500 on the freeway. What are my options to change final drvie ive read something about primary gear and ring and pinoin. cheapest way is what i want as i am broke from rebuilding the engine. thanks

use this to play with different Final Drive ratios: http://www.guess-wor...nical/ratio.htm
3.1:1 would be ok though

yeah its do-able without stripping the gearbox down. count up the teeth on the crownwheel, then count the teeth on the pinion. divide the crownwheel by the pinion and this is your ratio.
