If you are looking for an anodized look, Frost may have what you are looking for. Frost sells a number of products from Eastwood and I believe Eastwood sells translucent red and blue paints to create the look of anodizing. However, where the paint is translucent, you will need to mechanically clean the aluminum to have a more or less shiny and clean base for the paint. Wire brushing after solvent cleaning may be sufficient but follow the paint maker's recommendations.

Thanks for the help mate i was just worried about it peeling but know i will go ahead. You said you'd like red or blue as opposed to silver. Am I correct assuming that you want to create an anodized look? If not, any regular spray paint can be applied over the cleaned surfaces as Sprocket said.
