Personally, I think it's going downhill.. but hopefully this coming Sunday's episode will rectify this

As can be read here, Hammond will be doing a film about '50 years of touring car racing', including footage of classic minis!

It's uncertain as to how much time will be delegated to our beloved motoring icon, but it's always nice to see the Mini gracing the T.V screen in my opinion, no matter how short. Like the blue sportpack in the 'Peel P50' film

Just thought I'd let you know if, like me, Topgear's become a bit hit and miss for you.

It is mostly hit and a bit of miss, but nothing on tv hits me anymore so top gear is better than all.

and it's hard for them to hit the bar that they themselves have been raising again and again.

What was wrong with last week?

There was a model of a mini on the table in the news bit.
He mentioned a mini being fantastic to drive round a shopping centre in the Fiesta report.

And the Fiesta making a beach landing was just superb, best small car on the market by miles I think you'll find.

I concede the eastern block thing was a bit odd, I'd expected them to drive back from one of the original capitals to the top gear base with standard collection of challenges, but they done something different, and mentioned the Trabant, (though didn't go fully into the technicalities of it's design - absolute genius).

In fact a quote from the Trabant's Wikapedia page:

The main selling points (of the Trabant) were that it had room for four adults and luggage, and was compact, fast, light and durable.

Sound familiar?

when i that fiesta front end dived under the water i thought he'd had it. was conviced he would have flooded the engine with sea water.
how did he get away with that one? unless they sneakily fitted a snorkle into the cars interior.

Not quite:

We now run a wade test on all of our cars, which means they should be able to continue with water almost up to the window, as long as they can grip and the current isn't too strong.

That was pushing the extremes of the car, but didn't it do well!
The car they used was a standard Fiesta, same as you or I can buy, (if we have £11,000 - not if we only have 40p).

And mini's can wade too - look at my lovely Avatar!

I say Ford should sell that car over here. I have no idea why they don't when their American versions are not performing well. They might not be in such a pickle if they started doing it years ago.

I thought this series has generally been pretty good, better than the last 2-3 series. I think it's because they are mixing it up a bit, May taking the supercar test, Jezza doing the Fezza that May would usually have done. The bus racing was pretty entertaining and they've finally stuck the Veyron round the track!

how did that cope anyway, i thought mini electrics and water didnt mix. the dizzy is well under the water nvm the air intake.

I don't think the BBC were paid, in fact the Marines came up with the idea, and Clarkson happens to like Fords, note how he said all since the Focus have been good to drive, etc, etc.

Yes it was a good advert, but the new Fiesta is a very good car.

It is my mini in my avatar, the electrics coped by being properly looked after:
- Standard splash guard was fitted.
- Points and condensor standard dizzy.
- No additional protection, (no rubber glove/bag over dizzy, etc).

The only thing that suffered was the exhaust taking a knock and leaking between the Y-piece and the link pipe, nothing 10 minutes under the car couldn't fix.

Ah don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad; I just preferred it when the presenter's weren't so egotistical. Still, it's by far the best programme I've found on T.V, and I still buy the mag and go on the 'site (as is probably evident). It just seems to me that it's more about Clarkson, Hammond and May rather than the cars - rather than the apparent effortless balance in the earlier Topgears.

God knows what'll happen if Clarkson ever packs it in

I think the best bit about sundays was how quick that Caterham was round the track. Holy er, moly! Quicker than the Veyron and lots of other very expensive tat.
