Think it's a great idea. Not sure it's the right time to get the terminaly lazy and over fertile back to work when so many honest hard working Britons are finding themselves made redundant due to the current finacial climate.
I cant help but feel that they realy dont want to work and if put into a job role when they are so determined to be anti work that they would be taking a job of someone who has lost their job and would kill to work.
If work isnt an option as they have not had the inclination to get off the couch and contribute to society then perhaps they could do manditory volunteer work as a motivation. If you had to scrub toilets in soho to help pay abck the taxpaye..I bet you would be pro active in looking for work immediately.
They need to pay the Country back somehow..not sure how exactly but somehow and soon! I'm too sarcastic and jaded to share the remainder of my true feelings but I hope these scroungers can get some contribution going.

I haven't looked into the nitty gritty of it all yet, but from what I've heard I'm all for it. The idea of generations of families having never been to work is disgusting. I can understand that there maybe reasons why the odd person might not be able to work, but having generations of a family who are unemployed is purely down to habitual laziness!

Will be interesting to see whether it gets put into place in its entirety or whether it gets water-down in order to appease everyone. Also be interesting to see whether the Tories make changes to the plans should they win the next election.

In some ways I agree, however, the BBC report says any changes won't come in untill 2010/11, by which time maybe the financial markets might have just started to pick themselves up, or at least won't be in so much of a freefall as they are now. Also, with the government needing money to keep the bankers in their Porsches, now is the time to take benefits away from those lazys who use them to by booze and fags every week. At least start giving out a condom with giro and maybe we won't need such big council estates in 12-14 years time!

My opinion; they shouldn't need to do this if they stopped giving immigrants benefits...

Yes, people who live on benefits should be made to do something about getting a job.

It's not all immigrants. My neighbors or white english have 2 mercedes 3 kids and live on housing benifits while Tom,Rosie and myself kill ourselves to pay for our mortgage and all of our bills. by the way Neither of the mercs have tax or MOT.Tom checked! Now thats taking the *yellow human water*.

At last, but it'll never happen, some workshy scrounger will find a desperate solicitor to fight their case when they say it's against their "human rights" to force them to earn their money.

I agree with Andy, from my own experiences there are a lot of White English born and bred who abuse the system, however I haven't lived in some of the more ethnically diverse places (with the exception being Burnley/Colne area for five years)

one of my friends is a teacher and he was asking the kids in his class what they wanted to be when they grew up. the normal answers followed (police, nurse, ect) then one little lad said i want to be on the dole like my dad . and he was deadly serious so what chance have we got to get the little nippers into a job if there role models are like that ;)

I've been on benefit for a year now (from the Canadian government) and I think they should at least try to make me get a job.

Very true.

Every year they go without a job they should get less and less benefits.
That should make them do something about it. Or it could turn in the opposite direction and cause more theft etc.

As for the immigrants. I just don't get it.

Go shopping in Wolverhampton and you will see them all. wearing the most expensive clothes and watches, chatting on brand new mobiles, driving off in Mercedes. It just really gets to me. And they probably have a nice house given to them and a new kitchen and bathroom fitted every year.

They come to our country and get everything handed to them. yet there are homeless people (British may i add) that have nothing at all.

Sorry to go off topic, ill shush now ;)

I think the benefit system needs a good hard looking at to be honest. They have there priority's all wrong.

LOL!! Tom did that just the other day. They park in front of their house so it should only be a matter of time...we hope. The thing is man...this retard drives his FAMILY around in untaxed, uninsured, non mot'd cars!! Shocking! Well as long as he looks cool pulling his mangled family from a Mercedes I suppose thats all that matters. What a scum bag! However if anyone else notices un taxed cars I suggest they use the link you provided as it's not fair for us to have to pay when someone like my neighbors just get away with it.

I think blaming immigrants is an outdated view.

There are some immigrants who don't work, but there's a lot of Brits who don't either.

There are also some very hard working immigrants who have come here and are working hard at jobs that quite a few of us wouldn't like to do just to get a better life then they got at home.

I'm for this, I've thought for a while that anyone on job seekers for more then say a month should not only be looking for work, but also work for the community somehow. Whether that be helping litter picking, cleaning graffitti or something similar. Only one day a week, but it'd make the world a nicer place, and mean that person was working for their keep.

If you want a job you can find them, I signed on once, and by the time I got my payment I'd already finished claiming, had a job, and been paid by that. Not my ideal job, but better then sitting around doing nothing.
