Want to get onto a RR and have a bit of a tune up.

2 questions -

1. What is the average cost for this
2. Has anyone here used Tom Airey near winchester

Cheers

It cost me £60 when i took mine to minisport although some places do it cheaper, for this you get a maximum of 1 and a half hours.

Be sure to have the car fully warmed up before you stick it on the rollers and give it a good serivice a couple of weeks before you take it.

I think the average is around the 50/60 mark which is excellent value for money, even if you go for an economy tune, you'll probably save that 50/60 in petrol over a year !

I wouldn't say the average was fifty/sixty when i wanted mine done there didn't seem to be any rr's near me so i thuoght i'd have to go up to croyden/surrey area and they all wanted 100-120!!! :)

Then i found out that Gerald Dale (miglia racer) has a garage with a rolling road in a village right near where i live! His expert hands did it for £80!

WELL WORTH DOING!!!

if you can get yourself a bit further south to christchurch, longmans will do you a RR tune for 100 odd.

DO NOT go to Automec in Cadishead Irlam. MiniSport is the only one I trust with a Mini, because they obviously tune more minis than most other RR's. The bloke is realy nice to talk to, he'll reprofile the needle with a file  and every time its been right, unlike Automec who couldn't give me a time when it would be on the rollers, so I could be there, so had to leave it with them. Bad idea. If you can't be there when its on the rollers and see whats being changed, walk away.

Quite an experience when you're standing next to a car in a garage and its doing 90mph :saywhat:

Darn it! That is one distracting avatar you've got Mini Sprocket!

I'd be very intersted if anyone knows of anywhere southern (Southampton & surrounding area) that'll do a good RR tune...

my tune at minisport was ok for the money, but i wouldnt take it back again there are far better people around. I took mine to spams down near bristol, but hes expensive although he does a fecking good job.

If you want the ultimate and i do mean the ultimate, try ML motorsport down in knockholt - kent, their chap (AC DODD) is quiet literally the dady, you wont find any better.

normal is between £60-£80 but depends how long it takes. I paid £100 but had new plugs and points. he also nicked methe leads and dizzy cap from a racecar in the shop, as he didn't have any in.
Took acouple of hours, so was well worth it.

I would trek to Ninfield (outside of Hastings, East Sussex) from Southampton to Gerald Dale.

Check Dis

Gerald Dale's Site

Did excellent work and was very quick (but not hasty) too!
