So, i push in the lighter and it heats it up fine, bright orange ring in seconds. But I put in a satnav or phone charger and nothing happens, I just dont get it, does anyone have any clue of what might be causing this?

Cheers

It's the same if I put my navigation in the socket really bad connection. If I put my phone charger in it just pops out again after 5 secs  The sockets on the various "appliances" seem to be really different in shape and quality and just don't fit :)

Hi

Get hold of a digital voltmeter and check the polarity of the wiring, the negative should be the outside of the socket and positive should be the centre.
The cigarette lighter is not polarity conscious and will work either way, most modern charger etc have anti reversal wiring ie an in line diode.

Happy Christmas

Just a wild guess, probably a dodgy socket , but are the positive, negative wires connected right way round, wouldn't matter for a lighter, but could do for a charger.
