I have a cooper SPI with a play life twin exit exauset fitted - in the standard position.
Went out this morning to find the exaust on the floor - and it seems the exhaust mounts have rotten through. Tottally shot on 1 side - and the weight/twist has pulled it off the other side. So it was pretty rotten anyway....
Question?
What is it that the exaust mounts to in the standard position? Is that the subframe? of just a beam. The cars at home - I am at work with no refference- trying to tell my local garage what it needs.
Many thanks in advance.

Couple of pics on this thread here of some of the various exhaust mountings but they are always different for whatever exhaust you have?

On the spi that I used to own the exhaust had a hook that connected to another hook on the subframe by a rubber ring ( like most modern cars)
Is the car at your garage now? why can they not fix it?

Your exhaust will be mounted by way of two rubber hangers, both of which are hung from the rear subframe. You must have a really rusty subframe if those mountings have rusted off.

Thanks for the replys guys.
The car is actually sat on the drive, and I have called the garage - I was just trying to give them a good explination of the issue. I think it is mounted to the subframe - but when I bought the car in March - it was rock solid - so I am totally suprised. I even had the car checked over by a collector/restorer of minis, who confirmed the rear subby was in pretty decent nick.
I was also considering cost - eg replacement.
A photo when I get home will tell a 1000 words.

Just home from work and got under the car..... no need to get a photo, with having more time to look - it was -2 at 6 am this morning and was already late for work - I just looked with no intent.

I can see where the previous owner has welded the brackets to the subframe - and its the welded area that is weakened and rotten. Its then snapped and taken part of the subby with. Although it looked fairly good - the weld and rot has weakened the structure and led to its demise.

New rear subby ahoy.... me thinks - having just spent £1000 on a new floor, sills, inner and outer, seat mount modifications door sill bottoms, a full new front disc sett up, bearings and hubs - another £400 - whats another £200 plus labour.
I was told that my georgeous, loverly mini would become a money pit, and by the lord, am I starting to beleive it. But I love her dearly
thanks for the responses fellas - much apprieciatted.
