im thinking of going for this central locking kit http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=230314502277 im wanting to get rid of the handles and just use a fob. i thought about fitting a spring not a strong one, just enough to push the door open slightly when unlocked, good idea. And do you think its a wise idea or can central locking kits be tempermental and i could end up having to smash my window to get in. help is appreciateed.

if its any help of all i got a pritty standard mini thirty, no alarm

few options for solenoids

which one you think?
http://shop.ebay.co....-All-Categories hopefully link works

Hi

Consider if it all goes wrong, how are you going to open it without electric, I suggest a mechanical cable release from under the bonnet to say the drivers door.
Only you will know what it does and where it is.

I had a friend do this on an Opel Manta, it looks smart if the door handles and sculpted bit for your hands is completely removed.

Of course then theres the boot lid to do.......

I would like to see the pictures when you've done it.

If the battery goes, it's in the boot anyway...

i think ill deffo be doing it and ill try my best to take picture of each stage and then do a write up. i think ill proberly only be doing the doors and not the boot, not sure what i want to do about the boot yet dont no if i like the boot smoothed or not. i will be going for a totally smooth look and won't be a case of filler it ill weld in a patch may be off a door skin thats shagged. Anyway how would pull thingy under bonnet work as surely it won't be able to pull open the lock as it will attached to central locking kit (im *melon* when it comes to electrics a mate will be doing all that). just for peace of mind i dont think i could do that anyway.

As said if the battery does go it is in the boot and i supose if it does come to it ill have to smash the window, but saying that its worth it as the locks are hardly theft proof are they as someone said on here you could pick lock one with a spoon.

this is what you need mate.

i have the exact same one on mine (i use it for the boot) and by far the best one i know of.

my other friend has these fitted and uses them on his doors (no handles) with these nicely fitted on the bottom of his wing mirrors for the stelth look.

unless you knew they were there you wouldn't see them

I always thought you needed an external means of opening the door by law?

what i was going to do would of looked good

first i would of had fibreglass doors for lightness
then add a door popper kit
this is where it comes interestin i took the idea from a tvr to keep the law and put a button under the mirror with me having bullets i would of drilled a whole and put a switch button there and ran the wire through to the car
flush the door so u can still open it on button but still have the switch under the mirror for the law

thought it would of looked mint and really if you want to get interestin like the tvrs have, get it to open the window 1/4 way down before opening haha

cheers

well that is the plan apart from fibre glass doors, although im not fully sure on where the button will go under the mirrors is a good place but it is still visable was thinking of having it in a place you couldn't see but i will proberly end up with it under the mirrors.

going to start on this after christmas, can't buy the stuff till my next wage on wednesday.

sounds like a good plan mate you have inspired me on this day :dontgetit: im going to look into this, does anyone know wether the external button requirement for law has to be in a "sensible" place, am thinking of mounting one somewhere well hidden but would need an all weather switch or something.
