Right I'm now officially fed up with being attacked by the CD's in my car and was thinking of getting a system where I can plug my Ipod into it but am not sure what ones would be the best to look at. I'm not looking at spending a ludicrous amount of money on one so what ones have people fitted in there cars?

Many Thanks

Jack

iv heard of just having a simple line in. basically a socket that you plug your ipod into which is linked straight to an amp. no need for a cd player then.

I spent £15 on a transmitter. It sits in the connection on your ipod and you just tune your radio to that frequency. Mine is brilliant and I have never had any interference which I know some people have had. Cheaper than changing your face unit ;)

I've got a Pioneer DEH-P700BT, which can take it's source from USB, line in, bluetooth, or CDs.
I've tried several different transmitters before, but I never got the sound quality I wanted. At the moment I'm using an 8GB USB stick loaded with some of my music and I've found that to be the best quality wise - I find the sound reproduction on iPods is terrible!

Got the same unit and really cant fault it. Although no real problems with sound quality, I do have some badly ripped files that offend your ears. ;)

I guess i depends on what you expect the HU to do. I chose the above as its all controlled from the unit and the ipod/phone can just sit in the glove box charging. A simple line in, as stated, is the cheapest option though. :teehee:

oh right more options than I thought there was, thanks. :teehee:
Just got to wait till pay day to see what would be the sensible choice. ;)

Could you not just get a head unit with an AUX port and one of those cables 86-mini-chelsea was talking about?? As thats what I've done and its great.

Or you could get a SONY head unit with XPLOD function as some of those come with an Ipod cable that plugs into the back of the head unit and you can control it as normal on the head unit. And again sometimes they come with a controller so people in the back can control them.

(Did that make sense?)

I have a headunit which has RCA (red and black) Aux In at the rear (designed for use with 6 CD Changer)

For less than a tenner I bought a headphone jack to RCA cable, meaning I can play my iPod through the Aux function on the CD player, with crystal clear sound.

Then I made a natty little centre console
