Hi guys
When i bought my K plate 1992 british open, i looked underneath and noticed there was no cat fitted.
I thought cats were fitted after j plate.
Is there any guys out there who have a british open with or without a cat?
I'm stumped because mine is running seriously rich and i have no idea.
Oh and there is no lambda sensor.
Please help

don't think a K plate needs a cat! try giving it a good service and tweaking the mixture

Your 92' Mini BOC LE would have had a cat fitted when new, but being a carburettor equipped Mini, it doesn't need a cat to be fitted for the MOT, plus it will run far better off without it fitted anyway and that's why it's been removed.

I thought it was something to do with regulations that all cars after 1991 should have a cat fitted.

No Mini needs to have a cat fitted, but post 1992 fuel injected models probably won't pass the stricter emission laws without one.

No carburettor equipped Mini needs to have a cat fitted, nor should it be tested at the tougher emission rate either. I believe there's an addendum on the Mini at the back of the MOT testers handbook which points this fact out.
