Currently having a problem with the engine juddering quite a lot eith when it heats up or when it is having excess strain put on it such as going up a hill. I am currently thinking about decoking the head in hope to solve the problem. What does decoking involve? does anybody know what else it could be? what other routine service checks should i do?

Mike

Could it be running on 3 cylinders?

When were the electrics that replaced?

New spark plugs, ht leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, contact breaker points and condenser may be all that's required here?

i thought about that, but why would it only do it once the engine was warm, would i not be able to here it whilst it was just idling?

Well you could try taking each of the ht leads off a spark plug one at a time and then if the engine note doesn't change on one or the other, then you'll know it's a spark plug/ht lead/electrical problem?

Be careful though as it's not funny receiving an electrical shock.

Well the engine isn't under load whilst it's idling?

But I'd check the electrics and then if the problem persists I'd consider the carb needs a tune or a rebuild.
