hey guy's as my ongoing quest to find an engine is falling flat on its face i may have to resort to rebuilding the 998 block i have in my shed, only problem is i was told it was bored out???? +20 or +30 im unsure

the bores look ok as do the pistons but she needs new rings and big end bearings etc etc

so im asking where can i get the ring set from and what do i order?

also how much for new "shells" or bearings whatever they are called?

any help apreciated cheers.

you could do it by using a vernier guage down the bore and checking the measurement against standard bore size.

Get all the numbers off the pistons, usualy somewhere on the top they'll have something.

I just got the codes off mine, put them into the search box on here and google and managed to get all the details for them.

If it has the pistons in, then it will say on the top if the are an over bore ( so +020 +030 etc )

Hi Peeps

While we are on the subject of bores and pistons, I have an unknown engine with no number on it. The bores are 64.58mm and it says M2039 x42 on the top of the pistons. Please can someone tell me what size engine this bore is and what do the numbers on the pistons mean?

Thanks guys and Happy New Year.

Jon
