As title says.

I bought a shaped speaker board in 5mm thick alloy chequer plate (to match existing parcel shelf and front footwells) for under the rear seats a few months ago and am concerned it will probably resinate/ring/rattle without some form of backing to it?

Just invested in a Clarion Radio/CD unit and a couple of 6 x 9 Alpine Speakers over Christmas, thus the prompt for me to get it fitted?

Can some of you ICE Experts comment? Thought about 3mm or 5mm MDF bonded (impact adhesive) and screwed to back of the alloy to give it some "base" rather than "ring"?

You could do that, you could also stick a load of dynomat or if thats too pricey some roof flashing tape. It's a similar sort of stuff and stops resonance, will give you a bit more thump.

With the original Rover stereo radio cassette in the Mini only having 2 standard speakers and my new Clarion DB288RUSB having amplified outputs for 4 speakers (2 x front + 2 x Rear) and also an extra 2 x RCA leads for an external amplifier, will I need a new DIN plug or will it be just blanked off for 2 out of the 4 speaker connectors?

Set up will be..................

- Clarion DB288RUSB http://www.clarion.c...2387306212.html
- Retain 2 x original shelf speakers (for the time being?)
- Install http://www.alpine-eu...akers/spe-69c2/ in underseat speaker board

DIN plug? I assume you mean ISO lead, ive never heard it called DIN but could be wrong. You will probably need to run cables to your new speakers from the ISO plug.

If I leave the existing speakers in the back parcel shelf can I connect the new 6x9's that are going in the under seat board to the front connections on the new head unit? I'm not fitting an amp at this stage although there are 4 extra RCA? leads hanging out the back of the new head unit.

Got it fitted and works okay, fortunately, there's a fair bit of base control from the Clarion HU to get a decent sound.
Just seen another thread ( http://www.theminifo...howtopic=111683 ) where they had boxed the back of the speaker in!!! Does it need this as I have just left them open at the back?

It's 5mm Alloy Plate (matches parcel shelf and front carpet cover plates) with 6mm MDF bonded (impact adhesive) on the back.

Pics below (not happy with "the fit" but it will do for now!!).
