Hey guys being from canada and all i obviously have never met any of you (aside from bigbadboab who brought me some parts from scotland and i met him 3 hours away in Calgary :D ) or been to any of these meets... which sucks because i'm a long time member of this forum and there really isn't very much "mini action" around here... basically i am going travelling in the UK and europe starting in the end of april (will be travelling for 6+ months and i'm going with no real travel outline as i want to be free to do what i want when i want)... what sort of events and big shows are happening and when and where? i know there is going to be some awesome shows (with swap meets) seeing as its the minis 50th... I'd really love to do something like the italian job charity run but obviously being nothing more than a canadian with a backpack that would be impossible... anybody doing any runs bh2n perhaps... that has a spare seat i could sit on haha.

one more question... having a valid Alberta Canada drivers license would i be able to legally drive over there... reason i ask is it would be awesome if i could pick up a mini while over there and tour around in it (ideally a clubman estate) does anybody know the regulations with regards to this... how would one go about insuring to drive when you are not a citizen? anybody able to point me in the right direction?

this may seem like a ridiculous post but i'd really appreciate any help i receive in this area as i eat sleep and breath minis and have been wanting to come to the Uk for ages...

thanks in advance evryone,
Al

I believe the matt on here was looking for a passenger for the BH2N, it might be worth having a look at his post in the BH2N section about it. The bh2n run is a great time, its really well worth doing.

Hi Al,

If you are interested, I am organising a Tour in Italy of the film locations used in the 1969 film, The Italian Job.
July 28th to August 5th.
Will be back in the UK in time for the IMM.
Check out the website www.italianjobtours.com

Regards Steve.

You'd be welcome to tag along on the BH2N run, I do have a list of potential passengers at the moment, I'd gladly add you on to that list. There will no doubt be a few passenger spaces available.

It's a great run, you could even opt to only do half of it with me? Perhaps the return leg? It'd depend on what other schedules you've got and what other things you want to see.

As for being insured on a car, I guess one way to do it would be to just buy one for the journey, then sell it when finished? Maybe even ask someone over here to arrange it for you?
