The 59D has sliding contact points, known as 'blue heel' points. People usually ask this because they are trying to fit an after market electronic ignition kit and if that's what you're doing then treat the 45D and 59D as identical. It's the baseplate that is slightly different but it doesn't affect the electronic module.

I have now been told that i should go for the full ignitor pack from mini spares or the like and not go for one of for instance a metro as my cars full potential wont be hit as timings are out etc.. is this the case?

I've got a kit from mm4x4 and haven't yet tried it. But it fitted with less hassel than the aldon Ignitor (having had both). From that point of view, and the price I'd go for that one.
