yo, im looking to tune my mini fuel injection,
rather than converting to carb,
i know it means its more limited, but what can i get done?
and for what kinda price?
cheers maddy
you only limitation is
1/ like the sproket said, dont fit a cam not for the mpi (they dont have the sensor on them so wont work!!
2/ if, like me, you go far enough you will need to have a new ecu fitted as the one on the mpi (dispite what any ebay etc tels you!) cannot be re-mapped.
the first thing you could go for is a stage one kit, like on the carbs etc its only exhaust + plugs +filter. i think these are about £450 from anywhere like mini speed/minisport.
though to actually notice a difference, go for a stage 3 kit (also sometimes known as the gsi kit) to be flash you could get a john cooper works stylee kit they are just over 2K fitted these are the 90bhp kits (though normally your lucky for it to get over 85/86bhp!!
then after that fit a adjustable fuel pressure regulator other wise your car may run lean in high revs (loosing power and killing your engine altogether!)
when that isn't enough for you, you can:
1/ always bore the block/fit an offset crankshaft (to gain cc's)
2/ have it supercharged (around 3grand should see you get a healthy 130bhp)
3/ have a 16v twin cam head fitted (same again around 3grand = 130ish BHP)
BEST OF LUCK!!
nice to see people who don't ditch there mpi for carbs!

I was thinking of tuning up my MPI. Was looking at a throttle body. would it be worth the money???
i dont see why not!! but i think if your cars standard then go for a stage one and one of those (so your uprating both inlet and exhaust) that should give you a noticeable performance increase maybe 75bhp??

Ive got a K&N, 3" stainless exhaust etc. It came on the car when i bought it. It's also got a uprated diff, so the gearbox bloke said?
then yeah go for it, i have one on mine and it hasn't done any harm + i have just bought one for my bmw cooper S, maybe get an performance inlet manifold too.
