Whatever you do, don't use a diesel space heater...

Use a old mobile phone and ring it when you want to switch it on??

What happens when the phone lights up 'low battery' or you get one of those text messages trying to sell you something!

Diesel space heater is exactly what I was thinking of using! :D

It's probably best if I just stick out the cold for 10mins while it warms up the place.

No, really? I must be psychic! :D :D

(your post didn't just disappear you know, it's in another thread but I'm not saying where!)

How would you remotely fire a diesel space heater? Don't they have a piezo ignitor that you have to press in?

You could get a portable gas heater, like calor or something. They heat a room very quickly on full power and then can be turned down again to keep the place warm. Within 5-10 mins a freezing garage would be warm.

Alternatively, got any spare petrol?

Haha... yeh I wondered where that post went! I thought I didn't press the post button and didn't really want to write the whole thing out again at that moment! I'd better find it and edit it out :-

Those space heaters have ignitors so I guess you pretty much switch them on? I'm gonna get mine next week.
