Hello everyone, i have recently bought a turbo engine. the engine isnt a standard metro one but its a 1275 with turbo bits n bobs, bored to 1310. it doesnt have an oil header. but when i was thinking about where to run the oil header pipe, where does it go? as the turbo uses the top left banjo hole for its feed, so how do i plumb a pipe from the filter header to the top left of the engine? Pictures would help a gread deal too if anyone can take pics of their turbo engines, thank you

the turbo uses the hole below it for the feed, the pressure switch one. you need to fit a T piece to it so you can still run a gauge/switch.

I think you could put something together much cheaper. There was someone on the forum punting braided hoses or check the yellow pages for a hydraulic plant service company.

Also,

and others online for fittings

you could put it together more cheaply, but you'd have to find out all the different threads that are tapped intot he turbo, block, oil header (no easy feat) then contact suppliers for the same threaded adaptors/banjo's/pipe ends and an appropriate T piece etc, then the lines need to be specified to the correct length with the correct threaded ends put on the correct bit of pipe.

Then theres the fact that hydraulic supply places aren't mini specialists and so you have no choice but to buy more if you make a mistake, all well and good if you get it right first time though

All in all for the saving IMO it seems like a load of hassle that i would rather part with a bit more cash and let someone else worry about it if it doesn't fit, at least buying a set that was designed specifically for the job from a mini specialist you have more hope of recieving the help needed than a general hydraulic parts supplier when things go wrong.

I was selling Hydraulic pipes that i had made at work on here once. the 'T' pieces can be bought for £2-3 same as the pipe.

its all 1/8bsp fitings that you need. if you do go to pirtek or another Hydraulic firm. Tell them that it only needs to be Low Pressure. (100psi) Otherwise you will get Hydraulic 'twin braid' pipe 3000psi. (overkill, and a price to Match!)

if your not worried about saving a few quid tho it is easier to order the kit!

the trouble comes when you're trying to match up the turbo thread size as there's loads of different ones and most T2's have an oddball 7/16"x 24tpi iirc

Banjos make that a bit simpler. The actual oil tapping in the block is 1/8nptf. Almost the same as 1/8 bsp but not quite an oil tight seal if you mix threads. Ptfe tape/loctite, a tap or die should cure any problems.
