Have you checked the flasher unit under the dash? The hazards one is in the engine bay at the back right and the indicators one is under the dash to the right of the steering column.

How do they not work, doesn't anything light up?

To test a flasher short, its connectors together, or substitute, with a paperclip etc and reinstall it, if the flashers light but don't flash it very likely is the flasher.

It could be the hazard switch, short the bottom 2 wires on the connector block as a test.

Check if your brake lights and reversing lights work. They run from the same fuse as the indicators, so you know the fuse is the problem if they don't work either. You say the fuses look ok, but there could be dirty connections on the fuse - a very common problem.

Also check that the hazard switch is properly switched off. As well as activating the hazard lights it cuts off the power to the indicators.

Failing all that check the flasher unit as said above.

I seem to remember there is an inline fuse near the air filter on the bulkhead. Clean the terminals and check the fuse works.

There's your problem then, it's the fuse. It should be the top fuse in the fuse box, you'll have a bad connection on it.

had a poke around under there and the brake lights do work. everything seams to be fine just the indicators dont work.

removed the hazard switch and bridged some of the connections and i can get them to work individually which made me think it was the hazard switch but i changed it and its still the same.

all fuses are ok including the two near the carb.

anything else?

If you're sure the hazard warning light switch is working properly (and not preventing the indicators from working), then you might need to replace the indicator flasher unit or perhaps the rear of your main fuse box has rusted out (mine did) and is causing a short circuit? If so replace it and coat the rear contacts with Vaseline first, so they don't rust out again anytime soon: -
