Hi Guys!

I have installed my Acewell 3994 in my car. Everything is functioning as it should - apart from the speedo.

I have mounted the speed sensor and magnet in the rear drum of my car. Magnet mounted to the read hub and the speed sensor bolted onto the back plate.

The speed is spot on from 0 - 35mph but when i go over 35mph the speedo reads double i.e. 70mph upwards!
When i drop back down to below 35mph the speedo read correctly again.

Have any of you ever encountered this problem? If so, can you advise the solution.

Thanks in advance,

Callum

i had that problem on my first setup with that, im sure i read its something to do with the design of the switch (the 2 wire design) maybe its too close or the orientation of the switch, is the magnet passing allong the length of the switch or the width, im pretty sure its mean to be the latter. I ended up scrapping the idea and brought the speedo cable adaptor for it, ive not actualy run it fast yet as its still under the rebuild process but i cant see it being innacurate after its been setup properly anyway.

Thanks Azman!

I have the ACE-S - Reed switch; This is an optional speed sensor, which can be mounted in any direction unlike the ACE-C - Reed switch as you say which needs to be mounted where Magnet must pass along one of the lines at either end of the magnet NOT along the body of the magnet.

As i have the ACE-S i didnt see my mounting arrangement being the problem.

Someone else mentioned they had the same problem and converted to the Speedo cable adaptor which seemed to work well.

Was the ACE-S2 - Speedo cable drive that you went for in the end?!?!

www.acewell-meter.co.uk - speed sensors

Thanks,

Callum

yes i have the s2 fitted on mine, it needed the plastic trimmed off the end of the speedo cable clip where it fits into the usual 2/3 clock setup, but the cable itself fits perfectly.

Thanks again - This is for my C16SE Mini. I have a vauxhall speedo cable - so will see what the speedo end looks like.

If all looks ok then I think I will go for the S2 and get this fitted :proud:

Thanks again,

Callum

Update: I had a response from the seller (acewell.co.uk) regarding the installation and he confirms he spoke to the manaufacture and they have said his text on acewell.co.uk is incorrect;

"ACE-S - Reed switch. This is an optional speed sensor, can be mounted in any direction (supplied as standard with some models)"

So the magnet must pass along one of the lines at either end of the sensor NOT along the body of the sensor!!

Anyway I moved onto fabrciating a new bracket to hold the sensor perpindicular to the back plate - was a tight squeeze but managed it!!

Works a treat and is very accurate!! :shifty:)

OFF TOPIC:
I also forgot I was having an issue with my alternator/charging light on the acewell. When i turn the ignition on the light comes on bright - as soon as the engine is running the light dims but does not go out fully! Anyone experienced this?
