Hey guys

I know that people will come back and say that this should be in the forced induction section but i need a quick response as an item on ebay is ending and it is also technically technical!

What are the pros and cons of superchargers and turbochargers? Im thinking about a metro turbo conversion for the my mini which im goin to fully restore this year or an eaton/vmax supercharger.

All advice and knowledge welcome! - What would you do?

Dave

Supercharger probs better for smooth power increase but the kits are a ball ache to fit and get running well

Despite the ballache I would imagine the s'charger is easier still than an entire turbo conversion?

i dont think so,
although it is a matter of opinion really,
and depends on what kit you use and what you've got to start with,
it really is each to there own senario
thing is with a turbo you can run minimal boost when on motor ways etc with out killing mpg and the engine
i do belive most s/c kits are boosing all the time,
and all the quicker cars are turbo'd

Yer i would say easier to fit than turbo but setting up is horrible... problem is the car tilts forward and the fuel runs out the front at idle.

They can be done very well... i would go supercharger but be prepared to spend time getting it right... I know a few that have melted pistons :P

Turbo's can be intercooled, Superchargers cannot.

For all out performance, turbo is the way to go as you can boot to 15psi + without the engine melting down :P

TURBO TURBO TURBO all the way. the only thing is the metro blocks are higher compression the the others, so turboing them need new deep dish pistons, them sodium cooled valved, good head and all the rest. but the compression does need lowering with the pistons and a special spacer thats like a thicker gesket.
