I am working on my 1988 British Racing Green Mini and come across what is quite substantial rust on the lower passenger and driver doors (mainly passenger). I was wondering if anyone has any experience of removing them (to work on them) and if so how easy is it to do? Would it be easier to leave them on due to the work required to remove them from the car? Any help would be great...
Thanks

You need to get under the front wing to undo the four nuts that are holding the door hinges onto the A-Post. You're likely to find they're covered in dirt/underseal/rust and therefore you'll have to give the area a very good clean (wire brush) and then soak the area with some penetrating oil.

If you're very lucky, all the nuts will undo. It's likely that you may snap a few nuts off. This will result in you needing to repair your hinge(s). Which isn't difficult.

If you're doing a proper job, i.e. removing off the old skin, cutting out any rust in the frame and then fitting a new skin then you will definitely need to remove the door.

Good luck.

don't forget to undo the check straps before you undo the hinge nuts
