Hey all, putting another question on you.

As you may be aware from all my other posts, I am stuck what to do with the roof of my mini. ( Have to do something as paint has cracked )

My uncle is a sprayer for VW so will do most of my spraying work, but his son, my cousin, works in a chroming factory ( for aeroplane items ). They have come together and asked if I want my roof chromed ? What do you think ? Shall I get the whole car done !!!!!

Have added a chromed car for you to get an idea....

I know, but if I'm gonna pay the money, it would be nice to have someone else to blame if I have made the wrong decision .... lol

This was done to a mini a while ago.. Definately stands out but you'll need to clean it every few minutes to keep it looking good!

Nothing aids performance like 30 to 40 pounds of extra, un-needed metal coating the oustide!

I think the whole car would be complete overkill but just the roof could look very very nice.
Something different from the norm.
My worry would be stop the rust creeping out of the gutter and stopping it from pitting but if you look after it I think it's a great idea.

Wasn't there a mini that was chromed for a Louis Vuitton window display or something?

haha, I think it would be quite cool, (the roof, not the whole car!) I have a dinner tray made of some shinney metal, It would remind me of that! ...

Thinking about it now, I don't think I would like a car that reminded me of an upside down dinner tray on wheels...

Are you in the Army or in prison?

'Mini art cars' was a project by Rover when the MPi was new. Various celebrities were asked to design art cars that were displayed at various motor shows around the world and have since been used for all sorts of marketing and seen in museums. You've probably seen the Paul Smith offering which was stripey, David Bowie's was chromed. Completely. All over, including the screens. It was not driveable, for a few reasons.
