Sorry, only found engine-codes... No specific list of casting numbers of engine blocks (like head numbers etc.), like WFM1024 (I know this number) etc.

Jan

There is no reference which I'm aware of for the casting numbers other than the original MOWOG ones.
Basically they are manufacturing references on blocks, such as production runs etc, but means nothing as all blocks of the same type ( ie 998 and 1275 ) are made equal and then machined. They are machined as per the specification of the engine desired and hence the engine number is the differentiating factor...
You may find some blocks with AAA stamped into the bottom, these are reputed to be the 'best' blocks as the oil ways were machined from one side only all the way through, rather than both ends and meeting in the middle, but this is unconfirmed.

Yes, I'm well aware of that... But: the interesting part would be Cooper engines...
I know it doesn't make that much sense - still I'm after such a list... Maybe lets just start making one.
WFM1024 - 1275cc A+
WFM1026 - 998cc A+ (w/o drainplug)
CAM4471 - 1275cc DeTomaso (A+)
LGF 103200(?) - MPI
12A 497 - Cooper 998
AEG312/AEG631 - Cooper S 970
AEG151 - Early FJ 970/1070
But I'm sure there are plenty more...
850? Early/late?
998 A-?
998 A+ with drainplug the same as A+ without drainplug?
Cooper 997?
A- 1275??
Cooper S 1275 early/late??
948...?
Inline-Engines...? Different??
